#100Kserved – WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?
God speaks about servanthood throughout Scripture. In John 13, Jesus, at the end of the Last Supper, girds Himself with towels, takes a basin filling it with water, and proceeds to wash the feet of His disciples. He says, “If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.” In another instance, He says, “If anyone desires to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all.” (Mark 9:35b) We are servants of the Lord and are called to serve others.
In honor of the 10th pastoral anniversary of Pastor Howard-John Wesley we will celebrate by serving 100,000 persons in a year’s time from September 2017 to September 2018! From February to September we ask that you help serve the community in your own way. Please post your experience on social media and this website under the hashtag #100Kserved. We will provide additional information around how you can participate in serving 100K. We want to know how the love of Christ is being spread locally, nationally, and internationally!
Each month we will have a specific focus so please center your service to the corresponding themes below. Discipleship Groups and ministries are invited to serve collectively and post your experiences as well. Serve as a family and use each experience as a teaching moment for you and your children on the gift of giving.
Alfred Street, let’s serve the Lord with gladness! By serving God’s people, we serve God and magnify God’s name!
